In this video, you see Dr. Gavin Sandercoe of the Norwest Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery in Sydney provide you an insight of what abdominoplasty is while performing a surgery on a patient. First of all, you see the pictures of the patient before the abdominoplasty surgery. The video then exhibits the confirming of pre operative markings/plan along with confirming the liposuction areas. You then see how the tumescent fluid for liposuction is infused.
As the abdominoplasty incision begins, the raising of the abdominal skin & fat to the level of umbilicus is done followed by isolating the umbilicus. Then begins the liposuction of the flanks and after it is completed the liposuction areas are checked for contour irregularities. Thereafter, the raising of the skin & fat flap to the rib margin is continued followed by a repair of the rectus separation.
The central area of the scar to the pelvic brim is then secured followed by rectus sheath blocks to help control the post operation pain. The video continues to show how Dr. Sandercoe confirms the removal of safe amount followed by removal of deep fat from central abdomen. Then the trial closure begins after the central tension sutures are performed. The umbilical site is planned and then finally the abdominoplasty is closed. The pictures of the patient after the abdominoplasty has been performed is shown followed by the before and after the abdominoplasty surgery pictures of the patient.
