Your First Visit

Your First Visit to Dr Gavin Sandercoe in Sydney

Are you ready to make an appointment to discuss your cosmetic or reconstructive surgery needs?

Call us on 1300 112 358 and our receptionist can work out a time that suits you.  An initial consultation for plastic, reconstructive or cosmetic surgery usually needs about an hour for a full history, assessment and discussion of your options.

Full prepayment of $400 (as of 1st July 2024) is required at the time of booking for all appointments.

Once you have booked your consultation you will receive a confirmation email. This will contain important information such as your appointment day & time and where to find us, along with parking options. The email will also contain a link for our online patient form. It is essential for this to be completed as early as possible, no less than 2 weeks prior to your appointment. This link will also take you to the form required.

Pre Consultation Questionnaire

For some surgical appointments you will be send a link to a video. This is a short video of Dr Gavin Sandercoe explaining some portions of the procedure such as risks. Watching the video will assist you in being well informed prior to the consultation, making the consultation time more valuable.

Most procedures require a full medical history and review of your previous investigations. Please bring in any recent and relevant blood tests, X-rays or other imaging. If you are not sure which information may be relevant, you may ask when you make your appointment, or simply bring your entire recent medical file and Dr Gavin Sandercoe will find the relevant information within it.

Bringing support

We encourage you to consider who to bring to your appointment. In many cases, it is a good idea to bring your partner if they are able to come. Partners often have their own set of questions and concerns. It is also a good opportunity for them to meet and become familiar with Dr Gavin Sandercoe.

Dr Gavin Sandercoe advises that you do not bring any children. He is a family man and likes kids, however they can be quite disruptive during a consultation. It is a one hour consultation with a great deal of information to be covered. You will remember more of your consultation information if you are not distracted by your children. There is also time required after your consultation for our patient coordinator to run through your fee estimate. This can be a lengthy amount of time for children to endure.

Fees

The fee for a consultation is $300. Full prepayment of the consultation fee is required at the time of booking

Your consultation may be eligible for a rebate from Medicare of around $78. You will need a referral from a GP or specialist for most procedures, and a referral is necessary to claim any Medicare rebates.

At least 48 hours notice is required for cancellation, so we can ensure that all patients are treated fairly and given the opportunity to bring their appointments forward. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice will forfeit the deposit.

You will be given a fee estimate for your surgery by our patient coordinator following your consultation. Dr Gavin Sandercoe does not discuss fees, as he is not as well versed as the admin team on all the financials associated with health funds, medicare and hospitals.

What to expect

During your appointment Dr Gavin Sandercoe will discuss your needs and concerns. He will assess your body and take measurements. He will also take preoperative photos. All of this information will provide the information for Dr Gavin Sandercoe to determine a surgical plan. He will then discuss this plan and the associated options with you. Many reconstructive and cosmetic procedures are best illustrated through images or photography. Before and after photos of previous patients (whom have consented to their photos being used) will be shown to further guide you of what to expect from surgery. Dr Gavin Sandercoe will select cases that will most closely suit your procedure and expected results.

At Norwest Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery, digital photography is used as a tool in planning and assessing the outcome of your procedure. This may include use of the Vectra 3D modeling software. These images are stored in your secure medical file in order to provide you with the best possible care. We know that some patients are a bit hesitant about having their photographs taken, but you can rest assured that your privacy will be respected.

From time to time, we use some of the images of our patients to present our results on our website or in other marketing materials. We take every effort to ensure that these images are not personally identifiable. At your 3 month follow up appointment, when your “after” photos are taken, you will be asked to sign a consent form for the use of your photos after you have been shown your before and after images. You can choose that you consent to your photos being used on the website and in consultations, only in consultations or not at all.
