Dermal Needling In Sydney

Dermal Needling In Sydney

Our Medical Grade Skin Needling Program is $1080 and includes 3 sessions.

What is medical grade skin needling and how does it work?

Medical grade skin needling is used for the treatment of melasma, surgical scars, acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles. It is also used for skin rejuvenation. Medical grade skin needling is a minimal invasive procedure involving the movement of a sterile and disposable cartridge tip containing small needles over the skin. The micro needles puncture the skin and create tiny micro channels. These micro channels stimulate the skin to regenerate through a process called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) which improves the appearance of the skin.

By utilising CIT, skin concerns such as acne scars, surgical scars and melasma may be treated. Cosmetic concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles may also be improved. It generally takes at least up to 3 months before a physical improvement can be seen, and multiple treatments may be required to achieved desirable results.

For best results, a program of three is recommended. We will assess your skin with every treatment to determine your treatment outcome.

Who is suitable for a Medical Grade Skin Needling?

Medical grade skin needling suitable for most skin types, however, if you have darker skin, you may need to use our Complete Pigment Serum for 2 weeks prior to this treatment and continually post treatment. This is to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation to the skin.

People who are not suited to medical grade skin needling include anyone with bleeding disorders, skin cancers (in treatment area), open wounds or active cold sores, Hepatitis B and C, uncontrolled Diabetes, delayed wound healing, history of keloid or hypertrophic scars, active acne and active eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis. Anyone using oral vitamin A such as Roaccutane, topical steroids, chemotherapy/radiation and immunosuppressive therapies are also poor candidates for skin needling in Sydney.

We use a prescription numbing agent for our skin needling, so if you have any allergies to Lignocaine, you will not be able to have the numbing, but we can still do the treatment.

Other treatments to enhance medical grade skin needling include LED Light Therapy, Skin Peels and Peptide masks. We highly recommend doing a course of LED treatments 2 weeks after each peel to maximise the results.

How do I prepare for Medical Grade Skin Needling?

You will need to stop any topical Vitamin A one week prior to medical grade skin needling and you need to wait 2 weeks post any skin injectables.

When you visit us for a consultation, we will assess if you are able to have this treatment performed. Once we have explained the procedure and after care, we will use a numbing agent to numb the treatment area. This will stay on your skin for 20 – 30 minutes.

How long does Medical Grade Skin Needling Take?

Your first visit will be around 60 minutes. This allows a full assessment, the numbing cream to be applied, and the treatment. Each additional session takes about 35 minutes.

Is there any discomfort with Medical Grade Skin Needling?

As we use a prescription numbing cream, you should not feel much discomfort at all. After the treatment when the numbing cream wears off your face may feel hot and feel like a sunburn. This usually subsides within the hour, but may last up to 24 hours for some people.

If you can not have the numbing cream the treatment can be moderately painful, however, everyone experiences pain differently.

How often do I need Medical Grade Skin Needling?

After our Dermal Therapist has assessed your skin, we will schedule your initial three treatments 4 to 6 weeks apart. Once you have completed the 3-treatment program another assessment is performed. You may be advised to have monthly treatments if your concerns are still present. Otherwise, it is recommended to have maintenance treatments every 3 months to keep your skin looking its best.

What is included in the Medical Grade Skin Needling program?

Programs begin with a thorough skin diagnosis. Our experienced dermal therapist will advise you if other skin care is needed. The Medical Grade Skin Needling Program costs $1080 and includes three skin needling treatments and aftercare each time you have a session. Individual sessions are $400 each. If you are required to use the Complete Pigment Plus serum, it is an additional cost of $135.

What is the procedure for Medical Grade Skin Needling?

Medical Grade Skin Needling in Sydney begins with a comprehensive consultation with our experienced Dermal Therapist to assess your skin suitability and identify your concerns. A course of 3 Medical Grade Skin Needling Treatments is usually recommended as a starting point.

It is important to cease any topical vitamin A one week prior to having medical grade skin needling. It is also recommended that skin needling is not performed within 2 weeks of having injectable treatments such as fillers. Your aftercare will be explained during your treatments and is provided after each session.

We highly recommend combining medical grade skin needling with Red LED Light Therapy. Red LED light stimulates new collagen and elastin fibres to grow and increases blood flow to your skin. Doing the Red LED Light Therapy will boost your program. When combined with skin needling, Red LED Light Therapy is only $50 per session (saving you $50 per session).
